Expert Guidance for Overcoming Emetophobia
Hi, I’m Jaime Roche, LCSW.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with more than 25 years of clinical experience. I specialize in helping children, teens, and adults with emetophobia—the fear of vomiting—and related anxiety and OCD.
Emetophobia can make everyday life feel complicated. Meals, school, travel, parenting, and social plans can become opportunities to worry, check, or avoid. You may recognize that fear is limiting your life and still feel unsure how to change it.
That’s where our work begins.
What working with me looks like
My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. We’ll explore how your fear works: what you avoid, the safety behaviors you rely on, and the mental habits that keep you caught in worry.
Using exposure and response prevention (ERP), we’ll build practical challenges that help you approach feared situations and respond differently to uncertainty. You’ll have a voice in the process, and we’ll work together to make the steps challenging and manageable.
The goal is to help you trust your ability to handle discomfort and participate more fully in your life.
Support for children and parents
When I work with children, I also help parents understand the fear cycle and support progress at home. Together, we’ll look at reassurance, avoidance, and family routines, and develop ways to encourage bravery with warmth and consistency.
Beyond the therapy room
I’m also a children’s book author and provide education about emetophobia. Making this often misunderstood fear easier to recognize and discuss is an important part of my work.
You don’t have to wait until you feel fearless to begin.
Let’s talk about how I can help.
